BORDERLANDS
This body of work expresses an on-going impulse to explore the outer borders of a question, to stretch a simple paradigm while spontaneously responding to its basic parameters. Two etching plates—one is an all-over calligraphic pattern, the other is a pattern of repeated brush strokes. Varying their colour and order of printing, masking parts in each stage, adding chine collé (glued printed “washi”) between the layers, ‘breaking’ the edge, drawing with India ink—every print travels its own route; each could be the beginning of a new journey. All images 18”x12”.
